Embed Web Content as an Assignment

This is a great way to manage a project where students have created or uploaded a project using a web tool, but you want to be able to view and assess them all inside Teamie, instead of clicking a link, you can view it right it right there in the assignment window, here's how.

This example is based on video submissions via YouTube.

Set up the Assignment

This is very similar to the way you normally set up an assignment, but with a tweak in the Submission settings, of ticking the Text option:

I always allow extra submissions in case the students have to have more than one go at this.

Student Submission Process

This example uses YouTube as an example, but you can grab a link or even better 'embed code' from most online presentation tools, eg Vimeo, Prezi, Animoto. This can also be an easier way to review Google Docs like Google Slides, if the students publish them, they can get an embed code as well.

Using an embed code effectively opens a window to your web content, right inside the Teamie assignment.

Go to the site that hosts the content:

Find the embed code, this looks like jibberish, but it makes lots of sense to a web browser.

Embedding into an Assignment

  1. Click on the link icon
  2. Paste the URL into the space
  3. Click insert
  4. Submit for evaluation

Students can use the text field below to add text in case they need to provide extra information.

PS
It's always a good idea to ask students to view their submission afterwards to make sure everything is working properly.
