This is a very important website for all students taking Physical science at Bend High with Mr. Larwin.
*Use the Left Menu of this website and click on the link for unit 1.1. Scroll down then click on the pdf titled: "physical_science_syllabus.pdf" if you want more detailed information about this course.
1) Students should save this website as a shortcut on the desk top of your ipad (ipads are provided by district to students).
2) Students are required to keep a self-contained science notebook (three-ring binder) with college rule (or graph) paper. Students will keep all assignments in sequential order, for a given unit, in this science notebook.
3) Most homework and worksheets are graded on a designated due date and require on-time completion for full credit. Late work does not receive full-credit. Most Labs are graded/assessed for points on the unit packet due date. Unit packet due dates will many times (but not always) correspond with the day we take our unit test. All assignments & labs for a given unit should be completed by the unit packet due date regardless of student absence or excuse. Opportunities to make up assignments and Labs do exist. Student should plan to make-up assignments in a timely fashion.
4) Like all of your classes, beginning of class/period procedures are important in this class. Be in your seat working on the warm-up question when the bell rings or you will risk being marked tardy.
5) Need to meet/talk with Mr. Larwin? Your options include making a lunch-time appointment or coming in between 8:15 and 8:40-AM.
6) Cell-phones or personal electronics are never allowed out or in-site during class time. Keep your phone put away during the entire class period. They will be taken and sent down to the attendance office if seen during class.
7) Grading: 50% of your grade is determined/weighted by tests. The other 50% is determined/weighted by your Unit Packet scores. A unit packet is the total score (converted and entered as a percentage) of all the work/assignments/labs/notes/warm-ups for a given unit. Example: If the average of your tests is 80% and the average of all your unit packet scores is a 90% your final grade in the course will be an 85% B.
Students are required to have the following materials everyday:
-Three-ring binder designated for science only. Your "Science Notebook."
