Keynote Day 1: Monica Martinez

Monica Isabel Martinez is the Director of Professional Development for the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA), a non-profit educational technology organization serving educators across the globe. In this position, Monica develops and facilitates professional development on the most current technology trends for the purpose of improving teaching and learning through innovative processes. She has developed many technology programs some of which have been adopted by the state of Texas, universities, and others that have been rolled out across the US.

Monica has experience teaching students and professionals at all levels including elementary, secondary, and higher education while working in the US, Mexico and Germany. Monica has a master’s degree in Educational Technology and is also a Google Apps EDU Certified Trainer and Administrator.

Keynote Day 2: Rushton Hurley

Rushton Hurley has worked and studied on three continents as a Japanese language teacher, principal of an online high school, teacher trainer, educational technology researcher, and school reform consultant.  He founded and is executive director of the educational nonprofit Next Vista for Learning (, which houses a free library of videos by and for teachers and students.  

Additionally, Rushton is the Program Director of MERIT (Making Education Relevant and Interactive through Technology) at the Krause Center for Innovation at Foothill College ( in Los Altos, California.  He holds masters degrees in Education and East Asian Studies from Stanford University.

Rushton has trained teachers around the United States, presenting at national and regional conferences.  His fun and thoughtful talks center on the connection between engaging learning and useful, affordable technology; the power of multimedia; and the professional perspectives and experiences of teachers at all levels.

Tim Lee

Tim Lee is an IT and EdTech Consultant based in Virginia. After 8 years of years leading
 infrastructure re-design projects and laptop rollouts across public sector clients in the UK for BT, Microsoft and a number of other leading IT consultancies, Tim moved into the Education space. 

Tim has focused on Google Apps since 2009 when he lead the first adoption in Higher Ed (University of St Andrews) in Scotland. After moving to Virginia in 2010, he's been providing a Virtual CIO service to help schools re-design their infrastructure. As a Google Apps Edu Certified Trainer and part of the  Google Chromebook Crew for Education, Tim has assisted numerous schools adopt Google Apps and rollout ChromeBooks.

Tim is the founder of Amplified IT, a Google Apps Consultancy and Meraki Reseller company based in Hampton Roads, VA. Amplified IT is excited to be the first Authorized ChromeBook Reseller in the South!
