20/5/2012 Southern Gaels 1-8 Fr Daltons 0-11
The club would like to thank Garrycastle for the use of their pitch at short notice last Sunday. It had been 2 years since a Kehoe cup game that any hurling match had been played at the venue. This could be seen in the fact that the 65 line was hard to find!
On a very sunny morning both teams contributed to an excellent game of hurling. Fr. Daltons had begun their intermediate championship really well but for long periods of this league game Southern Gaels matched them.
Despite the high quality of play scores were hard to come by in the first half. Some excellent defending meant it was 17 minutes before the first score.
A couple of Tony O'Keeffe frees edged Southern Gaels into the lead. Fr. Daltons hit back with 2 points of their own. Donie Duane doubled on a ball dropping on the edge of the Daltons 6 yard box to score a great goal just before half time. Fr. Daltons responding with a point just before the short whistle.
In the second half the Ballymore men seemed to have the edge. A series of points edged them in front while Southern Gaels were spurning the chances that came their way. A smartly taken Frank Kelly point got Southern Gaels challenge going again.  A number of Jamie Anders frees closed the gap and Conor Foley tied things up when spectacularly half volleying a dropping ball in the box. It could have easily ended up in the back of the net but flashed just over the bar.
