Well done to the 15 U10 players who went to play Turin last Saturday in the Westmeath U10 league. Man of the match on the day was Anthony Connolly who shook off an early knock to play a storming role. After going behind early on Niall Scully scored an excellent goal and Jack McCullagh levelled the match by doubling on the ball from midfield over the bar. Cian O'Suilleabhain and Sean Murphy were marking their men tightly so with Cian McCarthy's quickfire scores in the second half we pushed into the lead. Unfortunately Israel Kimazo's cracking shot for the insurance score came back off the referee. When play swept down the other end Turin grabbed a couple of late scores to win. Most improved on the day were Jack Keating, Evan Farrell and Shaun Fox. Training continues this Tuesday at 6:30 and we are due to play Clonkill at home next Saturday.
Fund Raising

Under 8s:
21 Under 8's travelled to play Padraig Pearses On Wednesday July 25th and all played full matches of 30 mins aside. We had 2 games in progress. One with narrowed goals which made scoring more difficult, but our players rose to the challenge to rattle home a good few and battle well all over the field. In the other match with wider goals, the scoring was more plentiful. Everyone saw allot more of sliotar and there was some great competitive play. The improvement in all players with more matches and training is very evident now.
15 Under 8's travelled to play Birr On Sunday July 29th and all played full matches of 25 mins aside. We had 2 matches again, allowing everyone gain some valuable match experience against a very successful national club team. But this didn't phase our players who got well stuck in to battle fearlessly for the entire game. There was some fantastic duels and the standard of play was certainly higher than a lot had experienced before with some exceptional performances at this standard, too many to mention here. Players and mentors know now, what needs to be done to maintain this level of competition.
Trip to Tipp: Following the Birr Match, 19 Southern Gaels travelled to witness the Joys of Semple Stadium and the Feast of Hurling on display. With Pitch Side seats, all were very close to the tough field action and witnessed first hand what it takes to be an inter-county player. After 2 High-Intensity games, all went home happy, with some happier than others, as their county march on.
5,6 year old Training: Tuesday 6.30-7.30, Saturday 3-4, Páirc Chiarán. New Players: contact Martin 0872253350.
