U8 Blitz in Cullion
Well done to all our under 8 players who made the long trip north to Cullion for a blitz last Friday the 23rd. This was our last county blitz of the year and once again we had an excellent turnout. The full squad was:
Culainn Dowd, Tristan Connolly, Paidi O'Leochain, Cian Mc Carthy, Oisin O'Flaherty, Cian O Suilleabhain, Shane Harrington, Liam Ward, Aileen Ward, Cian Geary, Cillian Geary, Peter Mulvihill, Oisin Flynn, Luke Whelan, Sinead Mc Cullagh, Ryan Fallon, Adam O'Grady, Dano McMonagle and Darragh Elliot
We played 4 matches versus Oliver Plunketts, Crookedwood, Fr. Daltons and Edgewardstown. Everyone played really well on the night and it's great to see the improvement in skiills from all the players from the start of the season. It really was night by the time we finished up. Special mention on the night goes to Adam O'Grady and Cian O'Suilleabhain who led the goalscoring against Oliver Plunketts, and to Ryan Fallon who made numerous saves and hit excellent puckouts when we were under pressure against Crookedwood. Paidi O'Leochain shook off a hefty blow to the knee, cleared numerous balls and managed to bag a hatrick in the process.  Cian McCarthy gave an all action display. Finally thanks to all the parents who have been so supportive of the players in travelling to matches and cheering from the sidelines this season.
Training continues as usual on Tuesday at 6.30 and Saturday at 3 in Páirc Chiaran. All new members are welcome. Contact Kieran McCarthy at 087-2408701
Further details and photos of the weekends action can be found at and our facebook page.
After a long season the U14 hurlers have qualified for the semi final where they will meet O Loughlin Gaels to be played weekend of 7th October.
This will be a step up in class for the lads, but they have proven already this year that they are well able for most teams so with a big effort anything is possible.
Best of luck to all involved.

The U 13s play in a tournament in Rath Oath on Sunday 2nd October.
The John Martin U 16 Memorial Tournament takes place on Saturday 1st October.
This is a 4 team round robin tournament featuring:
Drumcullen. Co Offaly.  Padraic Pearses Co Roscommon. Cuil Dubh Co Killdare and Southern Gaels Co Westmeath.
