Leinster junior championship
Our Junior team took on St Laurences from Kildare Sunday the 24th. It was a very wet day for hurling but an excellent game was served up by both teams. The result was in doubt right until the end with Southern Gaels pressing hard for an equaliser when the referee blew for full time with st. Laurences a point to the good 1-5 to 0-9. This was the last game for our retiring players Tommy Murphy and Kieran McCarthy. We'd like to wish them all the best. Similarly many thanks to Gavin Daly who intends transferring back to Laois.

Lough Lene Gaels 6-5  Southern Gaels 2-4
Southern Gaels Under 14 hurler's bowed out of 2011 chanpionship at the semi-final stage after being beaten by division 1 side Lough Lene Gaels Saturday last in Castletown Geoghegan. Southern Gaels had the better of it in the early exchanges, but two fortuitous goals right on half time swung the tie in favour of the Collinstown outfit. Southern Gaels made some positional switches at the break and battled gamely in the second half but the defecit proved too much to claw back. Many thanks to all players and mentors for their input during a long season. Lets hope that the valuable experience gained can benefit all these young players up through the grades and in the future.
