Right from the throw in the Athlone side had the better of their Ballymore neighbours. Cathal Mc Givern, Fergus Groenendikk, and David Jacob were in charge in defense. Ross Cooper controlled midfield while the Dowds and Dermot Tracey got some vital scores in the forwards.
Team: Breen Lynch, Fergus Groenendikk, DavidJacob, Cathal Mc Givern, Kevin Dolan (0-1), Dermot Treacy (1-2), Ross Cooper, Sean Dowd (0-2), Austin Murphy, Joe Finnucane, Tiernan Powell and Fionn Dowd (1-4)
Subs: Garry Fitzpatrick and Myles Duffy.

Under 10s
Our Under 10's continued their good form to win the Knockcroghery fair Hurling Shield against St. Dominics on Friday September 20th.
We had another fabulous turnout of 20 players, which meant subs had to run on and off frequently. We started brightly with Cian McCarthy opening the scoring, followed by some great ground pulling by Oisin O'Flaherty and it wasn't long before he took his second Hatrick of the year.
Cian Geary got in on the goal scoring too with a great long range effort. Cian Mc took some accurate 65's and scored a goal or two late on. In the Backline, Chulainn Dowd and Dara Elliott let nothing pass, which meant Adam O'Grady and Aaron Lynch were having quieter than normal performances. Ryan Fallon started in goal but later tuned poacher to strike a fabulous low shot to the back of the oppositions net. Rory Kilgarriff and Roisín O'Duibhir were in great attacking form with Roisín being the only girl on the field - with one quickly risen sliotar, she was very unlucky not to score with the mass defence of Dominics keeping her out. Evan Farrell tried out in goal, with Cian O'Suilleabháin solid as ever in defence. We also welcomed back Adam Mulvihill after his broken finger, and he held his position well in the backline. At Midfield Bobby Nugent and Peter Mulvihill did great keeping the ball moving up to Eoin Hardiman and Paidi O'Leochain, who had to fight hard for anything they got. Cian McCarthy as Team Captain for the Night, took the pleasure of being presented the Shield on behalf of the Team.
