Junior 'B' Championship
Southern Gaels 1-12   Cullion 1-7

Southern Gaels are back as an Intermediate team after a well deserved victory over Cullion in the Junior 'B' decider in Shandonagh last Sunday. The sides were level 0-5 each at half time but the Athlone side put in a tremendous effort in the second half to out score the Mullingar side by 1-7 to 1-2 and seal victory.
They had heroes all through the team with Kieran Duncan, Eoghan Cronin and Sean Carey in fine defensive form. Alan Kennedy and Jason Ryan held sway at centerfield with Ryan accounting for four points from play. In the forward division captain Tony O'Keeffe led by example and got great support from M.J.Kelly, John Stapleton and Ronan Farrell. Adrian Garvey got the all important goal midway through the second half while Sean Kilgarriff's work rate was superb throughout.
Well done to all the panel and mentors as they annexed the club's first adult title in eleven years.
See match report in the sports pages.
