Juniors lose out in county semi-final versus Crookedwood.
Our junior team were knocked out of this years Junior B championship on Sunday the 9th of October in Shandonagh.
Conditions were not condusive to quality hurling and the semi-final proved a low-scoring affair. Depsite being under pressure for much of the match it looked for awhile as if Ronan Farrell's goal might be enough to propel us to victory. As it turned out Crookedwood finally got the scores their performance probably deserved  with their goal deep into injury time sealing the win for them.
This ends our interest in the county championship for this year and it seems a suitable time to thank Brendan Keogh and his team of Vera Corcoran, John Foley and Artie Pyke for all the work they have put in training the Junior side this year. Their work has resulted in much improved performances from the team.
Also special mention to captain Tony O'Keeffe who led by example all year and made his way back from Canada in time for the match on Sunday.
Our next match is thursday week in the season ending Leinster junior championship .
Adult training for our Junior team takes place on Monday and Thursday at 8:00PM in Pairc Chiaran Athlone.  All are welcome to join in the training.
Nursery Fun Hurling and Games for all under 6's and Under 8 hurling is now on in Marist Gym Hall on Tuesdays; 6.30-7.30. Then in Páirc Chiaran on Saturdays; 3-4, while the good weather lasts. Hurls and Helmets provided. All welcome. Contact Martin 0872253350 for further info.
