Under 21 Championship (13-a-side).
Crookedwood  0-17  Southern Gaels/Fr. Dalton's  2-10

This replayed first round game went to extra time, as did the original drawn game, before Crookedwood finally won the match by a point with litterly the last puck of the match.
On a frost hardened Crookedwood pitch unsuitable for any match the home side raced into an early lead and by the end of the first quarter were 0-6 to 0-1 in front. The south Westmeath side were making little headway as the home side played fast attacking hurling. However, the visitors kept in touch with a number of pointed frees from Noel Mulligan, Neal Rattigan and Andrew Slevin. Thus, they managed to keep in the game and despite having little of the play were just 0-6 to 0-8 in arrears at half-time.
The sides swapped points early in the second-half before Noel Mulligan goaled from a penalty to put Gaels/Dalton's in the lead for the first time. Crookedwood soon leveled with a point before points from Slevin and Rattigan put the visitors ahead with only five minutes remaining. The 'Wood' were reduced to twelve men for this period but the referee saw fit to award them ten frees in the closing stages as they produced the two points need to draw the match from close in frees.
The match headed for added time with the home side making the early running. They scored two points in the opening half and one in the first minute of extra time before Ciaran Martin produced a wonderful run through the heart of the defence to score a brilliant goal and level the match. As time ticked away Andrew Slevin again put Gaels/Dalton's into the lead only for the home side to level with a minute remaining. Again the referee saw fit to award the home side a free and with the last puck of the match they pointed for a dramatic winner.
This was a very entertaining game giving the conditions and both sides gave of their all. What a pity the many strange decisions of the referee had such a bearing on proceedings. Best for Gaels/Dalton's were Neal Rattigan, Ciaran Finnerty, Kieran Duncan Andrew Slevin and goalkeeper Trevor English who kept a clean sheet.
Team; Trevor English, Kieran Duncan, Donal Glynn, Ciaran Finnerty, Andrew Slevin(0-3), Trevor Farrell, Noel Mulligan(1-3), Neal Rattigan(0-3), Kenneth Kincaid, Sam Whooley, Ronan Farrell, Brian Finnerty and Conor Mc Neill. Subs; Ciaran Martin (1-1) for Mc Neill, Joe Kenny for R. Farrell and Danny Maloney for Kenny.
