Under 10's v Castletown Geoghegan: June 15th we travelled with great hopes to put the previous loss behind us and started brightly, competing for every ball, before Peter Mulvihill put over one of the best long range points for sure this year.

Peter had to battle really hard to get the sliotar into hand and showed great composure to side-step a few players and strike a superb point between the posts from distance and under pressure.

Peter put in, without doubt, his best performance in a Southern Gaels Shirt, and was our man-of-the-match, giving everything in his tackling and tirelessly working hard all over the pitch.

Another who came to life, especially in second half was Bobby Nugent, who stood up to the opposition, broke past them and fired over a great point, while Alex Devaney was also energetic around the goal.

At the other end, Ryan was fearless in goal throwing himself in front of a goal mouth skirmish to stop a certain goal and is getting great length now in all puck-outs.

Cian O'Suilleabháin had fabulous defensive positioning, with great support from Aaron Lynch who is showing great promise attacking each ball, getting it to hand and breaking out.

Seán Murphy put in one of his best first halves in chasing down the ball and doing some wonderful first time strikes to keep the ball from getting past him.

Darragh Elliott was enthusiastic in defensive and always willing to tackle, as was Odhran Dolan, who's skill level is improving and looks be practicing at home.

Chulainn Dowd held his position well, gathering a clearing first time, a mountain of ball and is now commanding that Centre Back position.

Uncharacteristically, Cian McCarthy and Oisín O'Flaithearta were held scoreless, being marshaled tightly by the opposition, but I'm sure they'll be scoring the next day.

Paidí O'Leocháin took a bit to get fired up, but then scored a fabulous Goal by controlling the ball well amidst a load of players, to strike a touch of class goal to the top corner.

Cian Geary tackled well and was so unlucky not to score with a few, especially with the smaller goals, we'll all have to try to ensure we hit the target, to force a save upon which we can pounce.

Unfortunately we failed to overcome another Under-10's Tough Tackling Team, but it's great experience for the games ahead.

Final Score: Southern Gaels 1-2 : Castletown Geoghegan 2-3
