From the Google Site Dashboard, follow these steps to create your ePortfolio.
- Click on "Create Site" button on the Google Site Dashboard.
- You will need to fill in the appropriate information for your site's name, category, description, template, theme, etc.
- Under “Name Your Site” and "Site URL" choose a name and edit the URL.
The name you choose will automatically become part of the site’s URL. We recommend that you edit the URL field and remove any special characters that may auto populate within the URL. Instead, change the URL to your Thomas College username. We recommend that you use "First Name Last Name ePortfolio" for your site name (e.g. Brian Richards ePortfolio).
Site Description & Categories:
Give your site a description (e.g. Brian Richards' ePortfolio) and add categories from this list. You Should include two categories: ePortfolio and your major. Please do not use abbreviations.
Collaborate With (aka Site Sharing): Se
t your sites access options
. There are 3 levels of access: Everybody at Thomas College, Only people I specify can view this site
and Also let anyone in the world view this site (make it public).
The default setting is set to everybody at Thomas College - we recommend that you use this option.
Choosing a Template and Theme: Both theme and template settings may be changed at any time under the "manage site" button, so don't worry if you choose one that you not 100% happy with. The Template, a premade site, offers users a quick way to customize color schemes, layouts, and fonts of your site. If you choose "Browse the gallery for more" when choosing a template you are able to choose an ePortfolio template. These templates are preloaded with Thomas College Core Competencies and can be modified to your liking. ePortfolio templates will be available in the g.thomas.edu gallery. Using templates and themes are a time saving measure that can add visual appeal and structure to your ePortfolio.
Once you have filled in the required information click on the "Create site"
button. Once your site has been created you will be able to begin adding content and editing your ePortfolio.
Add your ePortfolio Link to your Thomas Infonet Student Record in the WEB address field. See this Handout for Instructions:
