School Board Member Qualifications

1.Applicants must meet requirements of all applicable federal and state laws related to qualifying for an elective office.

2.Applicants must be a resident of the City and a resident of the board district which he/she seeks to represent.

3.Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have earned a high school diploma or equivalent.

4.Applicants must not be a member of the City Council or County Commission.

5.Applicants shall have good moral character and fitness.

6.Applicants may not be employed by the Board or be subject to the authority of the Board as pursuant to state law.

7.Applicants may not be serving on the Board of a private school or college.

8.Applicants may not be convicted felons.

9.Applicants will not be eligible for appointment to the board if they are on the national or state sex offender registry.
