The Pell City School System Child Nutrition Program encourages all students and faculty to participate in the school lunch program. Our goal is to serve nutritious, healthy, and appetizing meals that students and staff will enjoy. The Pell City school system remains committed to providing a menu that promotes health and wellness.

Nutrition Standards

  • All foods made available on campus during the school day will comply with the current federal, state, and local requirements as established by the USDA and the Alabama State Board of Education requirements.

  • School meals will make the Child Nutrition Program requirements and nutrition standards found in federal regulations and the Alabama State Board of Education requirements.

  • Nutrition information will be readily available for menu and a la carte items served in the school lunch program.

  • Foods of Minimal Nutritional Value (FMNV) will not be available to students during meal service times.

  • Child Nutrition Program employees will be adequately trained in food service operations including food safety and sanitation.

  • All potentially hazardous or temperature controlled foods made available on campus during the school day will comply with the state and local food safety and sanitation regulations. A HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) Plan will be followed in the Child Nutrition Program to help provide assurance of proper food safety and sanitation practices.

  • To ensure the safety and security of the food, access to the food service operations will be limited to the Child Nutrition Program staff and authorized personnel. Organizations that use the Child Nutrition Program kitchen facilities will be required to hire a Child Nutrition program employee to be present during the times that the kitchen is used by the group.

  • Guidelines for celebrations, snacks, vending, and fundraisers, during the school day will follow Alabama State Board of Education requirements. The school principal or his / her designee will be responsible for communicating guideline information to parents, students, and employees, and for compliance of the guidelines.

My School Bucks

The Pell City School System is using a payment program, My School Bucks, which allows you to prepay for your child’s school breakfast, lunch, and a la carte food items using a credit card.             

My School Bucks is a service that is easy to use, convenient, private, and secure.  You can go to to enroll and start using the site to deposit funds into your child’s meal account.  Once your account is established, you can check balances and fund the account anytime from your home computer or phone.  You can receive Student History Reports, Low Balance Email Notifications, and Meal Control Settings.

Once you set up your account, it takes at least 24 hours for it to get in to your child’s meal account; therefore, you will need to schedule your deposits before your child’s account does not have sufficient funds for meals.

Your child’s information is safe and your personal and payment card information is protected by advanced Internet security.

  1. Your child’s School District ID number OR
  2. Your child’s date of birth
  3. Your child’s school and grade

            Letter & Application may be picked up from your child's school.


Summer Meals Program

The Pell City School System would like to share information concerning Summer Feeding Programs.  The Summer Feeding Program is a summer meals program established to ensure that children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.  Through this program, free, nutritious meals are provided to children during the summer months.

Although the Pell City School System does not host a Summer Feeding site, your child(ren) may attend a Summer Feeding Program outside our city.
