Early Bird Registration

Tuesday, May 9th from 3:00 - 6:00 in the Duran South Lunchroom
*You must bring the following items in order to register early:
1)  Current water or power bill (in your name)
2)  Affidavit from central office (if water or power bill is not in legal guardian's name)
3)  Custody papers (if applicable)
4)  Copy of driver's license

Fees:  Parent donation of $30 (student agenda, locker, final report card stamped envelope, teacher/office supplies, etc.)  Funds remaining in this account after all expenses are paid may be transferred within the school accounting system to pay for general operating expense of the school.

*This will complete your child's registration process for 2016-2017 school year.  No schedules or homeroom assignments will be posted until the first day of school.  Come to Early Bird Registration, and you will not need to interrupt your summer vacation.

Look below for Registration Paperwork.  You can print blank registration forms  to fill out by hand.  If you would like to fill our the forms online and then print them, click the down arrow to the right of each form.

Teacher of the Year- Pell City Schools-Grades 6-8

Congratulations to Mrs. Katie Williams for being selected as Teacher of the Year for the Pell City School System for grades 6-8.  Duran South is very proud of Mrs. Williams.  Dr. Kim Williams presented Mrs. Williams with her award at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, April 18.  

AR Top Ten for Third Nine Weeks

Congratulations to the Top Ten AR Point students for the third nine weeks grading period.  They are Joie Stevens, K.J. Thweatt, T.J. Teer, Averee Adkins, J'Kaylen Swain, Kevin Boggs, Braylin Hathorn, Baylor Smith, Blakeley Goodgame, Ethan Young, and Evan Watson.  We want to say a big thanks to Life Family Worship Center in Pell City for sponsoring our AR reward party.  

Congratulations to the Jr. Beta Robotics Team

Congratulations to the Duran South Jr. Beta Robotics team for placing 3rd at the State Jr. Beta Convention in Division II Robotics Showcase.  They earned an invitation to compete at the National Jr. Beta Convention in Orlando, Florida this summer. Team members are Conner Pike, Justin Bain, Autumn Spencer, Michael Witcher, Ethan Young, and Gracie Sheppard.

AR Top Ten for Second Nine Weeks

Congratulations to the following students for being the top ten AR point earners for the school for the second nine weeks grading period:  Sassy Pilkington, Joie Stevens, T.J. Teer, Dalton Thrasher, Baylor Smith, Averee Adkins, J'Kaylen Swain, Kevin Boggs, Blake Franklin, and Mackinse Parrish.
A special thanks goes to Greater New Destiny Christian Church for sponsoring the AR reward party for the top ten students.  The party will be a breakfast party held on Friday, January 13.

School Wide Field Trip

Duran South will take a school wide field trip to Atlanta to visit Medieval Times and the World of Coke on Thursday, April 27.  Students received a field trip information sheet/permission form during 4th period on January 9.  The total cost of the trip is $120.  It may be paid in payments with the first payment of $60 being due on February 3 and the last payment of $60 being due on April 6.  On the day of the trip, charter buses will depart from K-Mart parking lot at 6:30 A.M. and return to K-Mart parking lot at 7:00 P.M.

Spelling Bee Winners

Congratulations to Baylor Smith for being the 2016-2017 Duran South Spelling Bee Champion, Evan Watson for being the 1st runner-up, and Emily Macon for being the 2nd runner-up.  These students did an incredible job in the school wide spelling bee.

Pell City Educational Foundation Grant Winners from Duran South

Congratulations to the following teachers for being awarded grants by the Pell City Educational Foundation:  Stephen Barnett, Ruth Borders, Ross Burks, Jamie Jack, Sarah Naramore, Tammy Sheppard, Katie Williams, and Wendy Wilson.  Together these teachers received a total of $2, 153.50 to be used in their classrooms.
