MISSION STATEMENT
Enabling Every Child to Learn and Grow
Our Mission at Keowee Elementary School, in cooperation with home and community, is to challenge and enable every child to learn and grow academically, socially, and emotionally, within a safe and nurturing environment.

SPOTLIGHT
Going the Distance
Second Grade working on a marathon
Mrs. McLain's second grade class takes a "Brain Break" each day to get outside and complete a few laps around our school's walking trail.  Their goal is to complete a marathon by the end of the year.  The fresh air and physical activity help the students come in and focus on learning.  Keep moving, Mrs. McLain's class!

Honoring Our Veterans

In recognition of their brave and selfless service, Keowee will honor  our veterans at lunch on Friday, November 10th.  Thank you for your service to our country and our freedom!

Keeping Keowee Beautiful
Planting Bulbs
On Friday, November 3rd, kindergarten and first grade teachers and students completed a joint community project planting
new bulbs and flowers around the school grounds.  Working together, this project promoted the importance of being a good citizen and to gain knowledge about plants, which is part of both the kindergarten and first grade curriculum.

Painting Benches
On Saturday, November 4th, first grade teachers, students, and parents gathered at Keowee Elementary School to complete a community project. They painted the benches in the front car loop and on the playground. New wood was placed on the benches at the car loop.  One bench on the playground will be designated the "Buddy Bench" where students can sit and others can see them, reach out, and encourage them to play.  This project was coordinated to go along with the curriculum in first grade. We want to teach children they can be productive citizens and give back to their community even at a very early age. They were so excited and eager on Saturday when painting. You could see the pride they had in what they were doing.
