Welcome to Egyptian

This site is a learning environment for the Egyptian courses offered by the North-West University.

The NWU offers two Egyptian courses at a first-year level. EGYP 111 is lectured as a first-semester course and introduces the language of Ancient Egypt. This course assumes no prior learning in Egyptian. EGYP 121 is lectured as a second-semester course and introduces the culture and history of Ancient Egypt.

The Egyptian language course is based on Collier and Manley's How to read Egyptian Hieroglyphs and may be accessed following the link below.

On this site all the course related documents are housed. This includes general course information, the syllabus, homework, deadlines for assignments, the schedules for summative assessments and the texts.
