Post-Migration Steps

Removing GroupWise (Windows)- Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (or just Programs/Uninstall a Program) >  Scroll through the list to find GroupWise> Select GroupWise > Remove (or Uninstall). Please be patient while the program is uninstalled.

Setting up your mobile device-After your email account has been migrated, you will need to delete the GroupWise account
 on your phone and set it up a new account on your phone.  ActiveSync Exchange is recommended for best results.

*Note - on settings: Server: m.google.com; leave Domain blank; check SSL encryption; and be sure to use your full email address under Username (username@holycross.edu).

  • Blackberry - for users with a Blackberry device that is managed by the Holy Cross BES server, your provisioning will need to be changed from BES to BIS (blackberry internet service) this is done by calling your carrier, Verizon, Sprint or AT&T. Ask them to remove the BES and change to BIS. Your bill should be much cheaper after the switch. The provisioning change may take up to 24 hours. After which time you may add your gmail account by following these steps as outlined in this web site from Blackberry http://helpblog.blackberry.com/2011/11/gmail-on-blackberry/  please remember your user name is your full email address.

Turn off Web Clips - Web Clips (news headlines, sponsored links) will be shown even though Ads are disabled. Go to Settings, "Web Clips," and uncheck "Show my web clips above the Inbox"
Note: You may need to do this a couple of times before it permanently turns off (we're noticing this on a number of settings... Google requires you to make a change a few times before it sticks).


Check your signature file - If you had special characters in your signature file, they may get garbled when switching over to Gmail. Click on the Gear icon, choose Settings... General... and check your signature. 

Star Users - Windows XP users will need to install the Google Notifier in order to send email through the Star system. Notifier can be downloaded from this url Google Notifier
