Summer Reading

Summer Reading Goal—Begin with the end in mind! Set a summer reading goal for yourself. What you choose is up to you—a number of minutes, a number of books, a list of books, complete a summer reading program, etc. Post it somewhere that you'll see it to remind yourself of your goal. Encourage your family members to set a summer reading goal, too.

Build a Better World—Sponsored by St. Charles County Library’s Friends of the Library. Sign up online now from home or at any branch. There’s a program for adults, too! Runs May 22nd through August 1st. Complete the program and earn a prize from the JW Learning Commons.

John Weldon Summer Reading Challenge—Sponsored by John Weldon Learning Commons. Runs May 21st through August 5th. Read at least 20 minutes a day, five days a week during all weeks of summer break. Bring the completed form to the Learning Commons no later than Friday, August 18th. Complete the grid and check out an extra book throughout the 2017-18 school year. Click HERE to print the grid.

Summer Reading @ Barnes & Noble—Sponsored by Barnes & Noble. Get the form online or at any B&N. Runs from May 16th through September 5th. Take your completed form to any B&N store and choose a free book.

Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge—Sponsored by Scholastic. Sign up and track your progress online to earn rewards. Runs May 8th through September 8th. 

Read a Mark Twain Nominee: 4th and 5th Graders--Get a head start on becoming a Mark Twain voter. Students in 4th and 5th grade who read at least four titles from the list can participate in the Mark Twain celebration and vote for their favorite book. Click HERE for book descriptions. Read a Truman Award Nominee: Going into 6th Graders--Get a head start on becoming a Truman voter. Students in 6th grade who read at least four titles from the list will be able to vote for their favorite book when they get to middle school. Click HERE for information about the books.
