ACT Aspire Overview

ACT Aspire™ Assessment System includes a vertically scaled battery of achievement tests designed to measure student growth in a longitudinal assessment system for Grades 3–10.
An end-of-year summative assessment is required for all Arkansas public school students. Two types of periodic assessments are available through the state but are not required.
ACT Aspire is designed to measure students’ progress toward college and career readiness and will be used in Arkansas for ALL students in grades 3-10 except for the severely cognitively disabled.

ACT Aspire consists of the following 5 separate tests:

  • English
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Math
  • Science 
The test window for all Arkansas public schools is:
  • Computer-based administration: April 10 - May 12
BREAKING NEWS: The ADE is pleased to announce that, due to numerous conversations with ACT, the writing times for the ACT Aspire assessment have been increased. Grades 3-5 will have an increased time of 15 minutes making the writing assessment allowed time 45 minutes, and grades 6-10 will increase by 10 minutes making the writing allowed time 40 minutes. These changes will go into affect for the spring 2016-2017 administration and beyond and are in effect for all students across the nation taking the ACT Aspire.
