Welcome to Art!

My name is Kendra Ferrell and am one of the ART teachers at Church Hill!

I graduated with a degree in Education specializing in English from Sam Houston State University and began teaching 6th grade Language Arts in LISD in 2002. After 10 years, I decided to change-it-up, and although I loved reading, writing and sharing stories, my true passion has always been Art. I taught middle school art in Leander until 2015 when I reconnected with my High School Sweetheart and moved to the New Braunfels area.  We are now married, and have three girls ages  2, 10 and 12 :)

Years of a passion of the arts brought me to where I am today.  Throughout my school career, I took numerous art classes and continued to practice my art skills. In middle school, I enjoyed drawing make-believe cities, making jewelry and fiber arts, and forming sculptures out of clay and papier–mâché. In high school I began drawing and using Prismacolors and pastels; I became a master at drawing a still life! :) In college, however, I greatly improved on my drawing techniques, and I focused more on life drawing and using charcoals. Charcoal is still my favored medium and life drawing my specialty; only recently have I moved towards painting. I have painted a number of pieces for myself, friends, family, and even a few murals for a church.

My goals are not only to build my students' art skills, but to build their confidence! Everyone is an artist and has the ability to create amazing pieces to share in school and around the community, and I am excited to see what Church Hill Students have to share!
