First let me say, I LOVE what I do. I am EXACTLY where I am supposed to be... teaching YOU.

My story... I graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX, but only after I took a tour of Texas colleges. I spent a year at Texas Tech University in Lubbock and a semester at Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches. Why so many schools?  Sorry, nothing exciting or scandalous - I was just trying to get closer to home - missing your parents is not something you anticipate when you're eighteen and finally on your own.

After college, I married Mr. Woodrom and we started our family (Paige and Parker). I worked for the family business until I had children and then tried the stay at home thing - I quickly found out that it was NOT my thing.

In 2008, I started teaching at Lewisville High School in Lewisville, TX. Coincidentally, this was my high school alma mater's rival. Immediately my husband labeled me as a traitor to my own. I didn't care - within two weeks I was in love with my job and my new school.  I thought I would be a "Fighting Farmer" until the end, but a strange twist ended my family in New Braunfels and me at Canyon High School.

Now, I can truly say, I am home. I'm RED 'till I'm Dead.

The obvious thing for me to say is that I hope you progress in your reading and writing this year - I'm your English teacher, of course I want this - but more than that, I want you to learn that you matter and you have a voice. You have the power to change the world. The question is, do you want to?
