SkillsUSA Arizona held their State Championship on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.  Below is how CAVIT did, and FHS is highlighted.

Geometry Students Build Rollercoasters

Honors Geometry classes were applying their knowledge of polygons to construct roller coasters. Each group used a marble for the car and the frame contained a number of different polygons.

Honors Algebra 2 Innovates with Giant Sticky Notes

Algebra 2 kids presented their rational expression sticky notes today.  They used a large amount of spray glitter and made sure to add hearts and's truly the best way to learn math!!

All FHS Seniors given the chance to apply to college for FREE!

In conjunction with CAC, ASU, NAU, UofA, GCU, and UTI, Florence hosted a College Application Day where over 100 FHS Seniors took advantage of the opportunity to apply to at least 2 colleges for free!

In an issue of the Southeast Valley Ledger that focused on Florence Unified School District, FHS FFA stole the spotlight as the top story of the issue.  We are proud of Ms. Rudow and her students for representing FHS so well and showing off just a few of the great parts of their program!  Check out the whole edition at HERE--  

Cheer named State Runner-Up!

The FHS Cheer team competed in Pom, All Girl Stunt and Show Cheer at the AIA Division 3 state championships.  Both Pom and Show Cheer took 3rd, and the All-Girl stunt team took 2nd.   These three results led to an overall state runner up finish for the team!  Congrats to coach Annie, Amanda and Dora, as well as all of the outstanding young ladies on the team.  Best of luck to the team as they travel to the national competition in California this spring!

Gophers crush Bears!

FHS Senior Sebastian Hernandez lead the Gophers to victory by scoring 3 goals in the Gopher 4-1 win against the Coolidge Bears.

Gopher Girls Soccer beat the Bears in OT

Michaela Mas and Hannah Hall lead the Gophers to a 4-3 overtime against their rivals--the Coolidge Bears.  Michaela scored 2 goals in regulation play and the winning goal in overtime.

1st Annual Eddie Martinez Invitational Tournament

FHS Boy's Basketball hosted a successful tournament at the end of Winter Break.  The namesake of the tournament is the beloved long time announcer known as the "Voice of the Gophers".

Gopher Wrestlers Dominate at the Coyote Open

The FHS Wrestling team traveled to Mesa Skyline for the Coyote Open in December.  Nicolas Arnold and Brady Susel each took 2nd place in their respective weight classes.  While Nathan Lamas took 1st place and was named the Tournament MVP.  We wish them luck as they finish their season strong and head to sectionals and state!
