Hello!  Welcome to Spears Elementary Library!
My name is Shelley Struble and I am beginning my fourth year as the Librarian at Spears.  I love books, I love kids, and I love helping students find that just right book and get excited about reading!

I grew up reading books.  In fact, I can hardly remember a time when I wasn't reading.  My favorite books growing up were Nancy Drew and Wizard of Oz.  I loved reading mysteries and fantasy, and I still do!

I am so excited to be here.  My goal is to help the students feel comfortable coming to the Library by making the space feel fun and inviting.  I have made a few changes to the Library, including adding some posters, plants, plush characters from picture books, and labeling the shelves in the nonfiction sections.  Yes, we have 2 nonfiction sections, an easy non-fiction section for our younger students and the regular nonfiction books for the older kids.

My husband and I just moved back to the Frisco area in July of 2014.  We lived in Plano for 3 years, from 1997-2000, then moved to Pennsylvania with my husband's job.  Our daughters stayed in Texas as they were tired of moving and didn't want to leave.  Our daughters are now both married and they each have a beautiful daughter of their own.  That is why we moved back to Texas - for the grandbabies!

While we were living in Pennsylvania, I had an opportunity to go back to school and work on my Masters degree in Library Science.  I was able to find an online program through TWU (Texas Woman's University) and received my degree in August 2004.  I found a job in the Charleston area of South Carolina, where I worked for 8 years as a Library Media Specialist.  We loved living in South Carolina, but our grandbabies were more important than going to the beach, so we moved back to Texas.
