Welcome to the Carroll Elementary Counselor Site!

Students have a need to belong. The need to belong refers to the strong psychological and emotional need all students have to feel important, worthwhile, significant, and valued.

Cared For - Students need to feel cared for and to know they can contribute to the group in a significant way.

Calm- Students must feel calm, so that they can complete tasks in a manner that meets the standards of the school.

Connected - Students need to believe that they can connect successfully with teachers and classmates.

What does a school counselor do?

As your school counselor, it is my job to provide a comprehensive counseling program that encompasses the following four components:

  • Guidance- I will provide monthly lessons that cover academic, personal/social and career development.

  • Responsive Service- I will provide individual and/or group sessions that address the needs of the students (friendship skills, character traits, manners, conflict resolution, stress management, anger management, anti-bully prevention, communication skills, problem solving, etc.)

  • Individual Planning-It is very important for me to assist students in planning, monitoring and managing their academic, personal/social, and career development. My hope is that all students will be motivated to set high goals for themselves and believe they can accomplish their goals. Goal setting helps students see where they are heading and decide the path they want to take to get there.

  • System Support-It is essential for me to support my administrators, staff members, and community partners. Working collaboratively as a team we can accomplish so much more than individually.
