Welcome to the Library!

Hour of Code Activities

Students participated in the Hour of Code this week! It was a lot of fun and I hope many students continue to do the Hour Of Code activities at home. Here is a picture from this week and click here to see more!

December Lunch Bunch Book Club

Our meeting was held on December 5th and it was so much fun! Miss Teresa lead the discussion for the book, The Trouble with Chickens and I led the discussion for the book, Clementine. It was great to see all the students sharing ideas and making real world connections through literature. After discussing our books, we ate lunch together and decided the next book. Students will be reading either The Knights of the Lunch Table-Dodgeball Chronicles or Esio Trot by Raold Dahl.

Library Assistants

Third grade students were invited to fill out a Library Assistant application if they wanted to volunteer in the library during their recess  every Friday to help put books away and perform other library tasks. An amazingly 40 students applied and they all got the job! Students were divided into 3 groups of 14 and will rotate every 8 weeks.  I am such a lucky Librarian to have so many helpful students! This is the first group of volunteers:

Lunch Bunch Book Club

Our first Lunch Bunch Book Club was held this week and it was so much fun! Ms. Teresa from the Lakeville Public Library and I invited 3rd grade students to join the book club. The group of 28 kids met and did an informal book talk on their favorite book.  Our next meeting is December 5th and students picked The Trouble with Chickens or Clementine for their first book.

MassCUE Conference 2016

Kaitlyn Abreau, Cody Faucher, Nathan Faucher and Matthew Frias presented with me at the MassCUE conference on October 20th at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. They demonstrated how to use some of the tools in our Makerspace such as  Makey Makey, Little Bits, Blue Bots and Scratch to administrators, teachers and librarians. I received many compliments on how articulate and knowledgeable our students are and what a great school AES must be. I could not have been any prouder to be their Librarian!
