Thank you for visiting the Errickson Art website! I am very excited about all the great art experiences that I have planned for your children! During the year students use a variety of art tools and materials as a way to discover new art concepts and develop new skills. Students are introduced to an array of different artists and art movements as they develop confidence in creating and appreciating art.
It is my goal for the students to have fun, enjoy, and understand the process of making art. I wish to teach the students how to become creative problem solvers while developing personal expression and communication in a social environment.
Students are always encouraged to express their individuality and creativity, but in doing this your child may get a bit messy! Most of the materials in the art room are washable, but I strongly discourage the wearing of good clothing on your child’s day in art class. Children should be able to enjoy the process of art without having to worry about making a mess.
Throughout the year, students’ works are displayed in the hallways of our school, as well as at our annual student Art Show at the end of the school year. For these reasons, artwork will not be sent home during the year. Your child’s work will be kept safely in school until the end of the year and sent home all at once. This also allows students to see their progression of skills during the year!
You can view your child's artwork throughout the year on Artsonia.com. If you haven't signed up for it yet, it is a great safe website where you can view, comment, and even print your child's work! The goal of Artsonia is for you to explore, at home, what we have been learning about in class. Take the time to look around, find interesting facts, and play fun games!
