The Miss Frederick and Miss Frederick’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Programs sponsored by the Fredericktowne Sertoma Club are affiliates of the Miss Maryland Scholarship Organization, Miss Maryland’sOutstanding Teen, Miss America Scholarship Organization and Miss America's Outstanding Teen. The Miss America Organization is one of the nation's leading achievement programs and the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance. Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Inc. has been organized to encourage positive achievement by helping to nurture and build the scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living, and community involvement of our nation’s youth.

To be eligible to compete for the title of Miss Frederick women must be between the ages of 17 and 24, at least a senior in high school, unmarried and attend school or be employed in Frederick County.  To be eligible to compete for the title of Miss Frederick’s Outstanding Teen girls must be between the ages 13 and 17, be no more than high school juniors and reside or attend school in Frederick County.  Contestants competing for Miss Frederick are judged on talent, interview, evening wear, on-stage question and lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit.  Contestants competing for Miss Frederick’s Outstanding Teen are judged on talent, interview, evening wear, on-stage question and lifestyle and fitness in active wear.

The Miss Frederick Scholarship Program has been awarding scholarships for over 35 years.  Every year the program awards scholarships to both the titleholders and the contestants.  In addition every contestant spends a month preparing for the pageant at rehearsals where they work preparing for the phases of competition with the help of their hostess.  A hostess is a mentor that is paired with the contestant.  They work with each contestant preparing for the pageant and on the day of. 

What You Can Do to Help
It is the financial support of local citizens, businesses and civic organizations whose charitable contributions to the Miss Frederick Scholarship Program make it possible to award scholarships. We appreciate monetary donations plus attendance, support, or by placing ads in our program.
