Students in grades 7 & 8 who wish to participate in interscholastic athletics are encouraged to do so. Sixth graders can only act as managers if selected by the coach. Programs include cheerleading, football, volleyball, cross country, golf, wrestling, basketball, softball, track, baseball, tennis, and soccer. These teams compete in the Roanoke Valley Middle School League. Students must pass three out of four classes for 8th graders, and four of the five for 7th graders each semester in order to compete in a sport the following semester. A Virginia High School physical is required before students may participate in any interscholastic event. Physical forms can be picked up at BFMS or TGC or printed online In addition to the physical form, every athlete must sign a participation form as well as a concussion policy form.

Spring sports at BFMS will begin soon. Anyone who would like to participate will need to have a VHSL physical on file BEFORE tryouts begin and will have to have attended a mandatory sports parent meeting. Mandatory parent meeting dates are Thursday, February 13 at 6:00 PM and Tuesday, February 18 at 4:00 PM. Both meetings will be held in the FCHS auditorium. Both the parent and athlete must attend. If you have already attended a meeting this year you will only have to come to the team meetings which will begin about 45 minutes after the start time. If you have any questions - please call Jessica Slough at 540-493-6542.

Boys and girls soccer, baseball and softball tryouts  will begin February 17. All tryouts will be held right after school until 5:45. (Students may still come to tryouts on this date if they are planning on attending the February 18th meeting.)

Boys and girls track will begin February 24 right after school at BFMS.

Activity buses will be available.

In addition to these spring sports we will also have football conditioning for any 6th or 7th grader interested in football next year. Those dates are January 7, 9, 13, 15, 23, 27, 29 and February 4, 6, 11, 13 from 3:00-4:15. There will be no activity bus available. Rides will need to be ready for pick up no later than 4:30. All participants must have a VHSL physical on file. No parent meeting is required.

Activity buses are available for students who participate in after-school activities. Buses pick up at the West Hall at 6:00 p.m. and transport students to Franklin County High School, where they will board buses that transport them to the bus stop nearest their homes. Students who ride the activity buses are required to obtain an activity bus pass from the person who is responsible for the activity.

You can call the bus garage at 483-5541 to find out which bus to ride and where the bus will stop, or click the link below.  PLEASE NOTE:  THE ACTIVITY BUS DOES NOT NECESSARILY STOP AT THE SAME PLACE AS THE REGULAR BUS.   **ACTIVITY BUS ROUTES
