Fall sports for BFMS will begin soon. Anyone who would like to participate will need to have a VHSL physical on file before the start date and will have to have attended a mandatory fall sports parent meeting. Meeting dates are Thursday, July 19 at 6:00 and Tuesday, July 24 at 3:30. Both meetings will be in the high school auditorium. Both parent and athlete must attend at least one. BFMS Football begins July 26. Equipment handout nights are Monday, July 16 and Monday, July 23 from 5:30-7:30 in the east hall at BFMS. Please enter the building in the back by the cafeteria. BFMS Volleyball Tryouts will be held in the west gym at BFMS on Friday, August 3 from 3:30-6:00 and will continue on Saturday, August 4 from 9:00-11:30 and then again from 1:00-3:30. For more information please email Coach Flora at andy

Students in grades 7 & 8 who wish to participate in interscholastic athletics are encouraged to do so. Sixth graders can only act as managers if selected by the coach. Programs include cheerleading, football, volleyball, cross country, golf, wrestling, basketball, softball, track, baseball, tennis, and soccer. These teams compete in the Junior Piedmont District. Students must pass three out of four classes for 8th graders, and four of the five for 7th graders each semester in order to compete in a sport the following semester. A Virginia High School physical is required before students may participate in any interscholastic event. Physical forms can be picked up at BFMS or TGC or printed online http://www.vhsl.org/. In addition to the physical form, every athlete must sign a participation form as well as a concussion policy form.

There will be some changes this year that you need to share with your fall athletes. We will no longer send out sports passes for athletes.  Students can purchase an all season sports pass for $40.00 which will get them into any regular season athletic event at Franklin County High School.   These will go on sale July 30th.  This will be a picture pass.  All season sports passes will go on sale for parents on July 30th as well.  

Prices are:1-  $75.00, 2- $125.00, 3- $150.00. 4- $175.00

We will have pictures on these as well.  Parents can come by the athletic office with pictures and money to generate their passes. This is a huge change so we need to spread out the word as much as possible.


Activity buses are available for students who participate in after-school activities. Buses pick up at the West Hall at 6:00 p.m. and transport students to Franklin County High School, where they will board buses that transport them to the bus stop nearest their homes. Students who ride the activity buses are required to obtain an activity bus pass from the person who is responsible for the activity.  

Students are responsible for checking in Guidance to find out which bus to ride and where the bus will stop.  PLEASE NOTE:  THE ACTIVITY BUS DOES NOT NECESSARILY STOP AT THE SAME PLACE AS THE REGULAR BUS.   **ACTIVITY BUS ROUTES
Students must have an activity bus pass, secured from the sponsor or coach in order to ride the activity bus. NO EXCEPTIONS!

The same acceptable bus conduct that is expected on any bus ride is also expected on activity buses. Activity bus transportation is a privilege that can be withdrawn for inappropriate behavior.
