Ms. Marte joined the district in 1995 after completing her student teaching at Woodside Avenue School in Franklin Lakes. She worked at Woodside for one year as a first grade teacher. She later moved to High Mountain Road School where she taught fifth grade for eight years. Ms. Marte became part of the FAMS team in 2005 and has taught sixth and seventh grade Language Arts, grade 8 Media Through Language Arts, and ACEs. Throughout her career in Franklin Lakes, Ms. Marte has served on many curriculum and interview committees, was the advisor for the 4th grade Drama Club, introduced the Writing Mentor program to the elementary schools, co-taught the Family Science program, and was the yearbook advisor. Ms. Marte received the Governor's Teacher of the Year Award in 2001 and was again named Teacher of the Year in 2016.
Ms. Marte received her Bachelor's Degree from William Paterson University, where she majored in Education and Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice. She obtained her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
As a reading and language arts teacher, my goal is to create life-long learners and instill a passion for reading and writing. I wish to challenge each student to reach his or her highest potential and create a safe learning environment where my students are encouraged to take risks and enjoy learning.
