It is with great pleasure that I serve the Franklin Lakes School District as an English as a Second Language teacher. After earning a B.A. in English from the College of William and Mary, I spent ten years working in the corporate world, including an assignment in Argentina. During my time abroad, I learned firsthand the difficulties and challenges but also the joys and rewards of living in another country and in another language. After my return home to the United States, I transitioned to teaching, earning an M.A.T. in English for Speakers of Other Languages from American University. Since then, I have taught ESL and Spanish to students of all ages. English is my first love, but I am also fluent in Spanish and proficient in Brazilian Portuguese.

Teaching Philosophy

"Never make fun of someone who speaks broken English. It means they know another language." - H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

We all have the capacity to learn any number of languages, but children learning a new language for academic purposes face unique challenges. My students have my admiration and respect, and it is an honor to work with them, together with their families and my colleagues, to help them acquire the English language skills necessary to succeed in school and beyond.
