Parents as Partners Program

The faculty and staff of J.P. King, Jr. Middle School would like to invite you to attend the 2012-2013 Parents as Partners Seminar series. 

 

Meetings will be held monthly in the J.P. King, Jr. Middle School auditorium.  Selected months will include a meal served in the cafeteria.

 

Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 6 p.m. 

Open House – Come join us for 600 Club Award Presentations, Staff Introductions, information on Academic & Career Plans and Graduation Requirements, Highlights and Important Dates. Refreshments will be served after the program.

Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 6 p.m.

October is all about information.  Come learn about the FCPS Title I Program, 21st Century After-School and other Programs. Jennell Riddick will speak about transition and motivation.  Refreshments will be served after the program.

Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 6 p.m.

November is all about Reading!  Family Reading Night.  FCPS Title I Program Information will be presented. A Chicken Dinner will be served after the program.

Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 6 p.m.

December’s program is Accreditation for Parents and 8th Grade ACP’s.  Come hear the Band perform and get your picture with Santa. Refreshments will be served after the program.

Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 6 p.m.

January’s program is Electives Night: Learn about elective classes offered at JPK and Franklin High School.  Help your middle school student explore the options available.  Refreshments will be served after the program.

Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 6 p.m.

February’s program is all about Study Skills and Testing Strategies.  Help your child do her very best on all kinds of tests.  Tried and true tips on how to help your student study for the big test as well as little quizzes will be outlined.  Dinner will be served after the program.

Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 6 p.m.

At March’s meeting, 6th and 7th grade students will present their Academic and Career Plan to parents.  Staff will be available to help navigate you through the process.  Refreshments will be served after the program.

Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 6 p.m.

SOL tests are given in May. This program will specifically emphasize the Reading and Math SOL tests as well as test-taking strategies to use when reviewing with your student to make them successful! Refreshments will be served after the program.

Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 6 p.m.

Come see us and participate in our Spring Family Reading Night.  Refreshments will be served after the program.

June TBD, 2013 at 6 p.m.

What will middle school be like? What programs are offered to middle school students? Have all your questions answered about Middle School Transition. The Middle School Band will perform.  Dinner will be served after the program.
