Parents New to Franklin:
If you need to register a student for school, please call the school to schedule an appointment with Mrs. Cruey to register your student (757) 562-4631.  
Required Documents:
Student Birth Certificate
Student Immunizations
Name and address of the previous school attended
2 forms of Proof of Residence in the City of Franklin (Drivers License, Voter Card, Rental agreement or mortgage statement, Utility bill)
Custody documents (if applicable)
Starting September 4, 2012, please call the guidance office to schedule a time to register your student.  To insure prompt enrollment, please have all documents with you upon registration or have them faxed before registering your student.  JPK Fax number: (757) 562-0231.

J.P. King, Jr. Middle School will be participating in Pennies for Patients fund raiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society again this year.
We hope to raise $1,800.00 this year.  Students can bring change or cash to school between Feb 12 and March 1.
  • Homerooms that collect $100 will receive a Bronze Pennant, $200 for a Silver Pennant, or $ 300 for a Gold Pennant
  • The homeroom that brings in the most money per student will win a Pizza party. 
  • The grade level that brings in the most per student will win a Dress Down Day.

A Networking Opportunity for People with Disabilities

This FREE workshop funded by United Way of Franklin and Southampton County Area has been designed from a parent’s perspective (Regina Myrick) to share resources for people with disabilities and the professionals that serve them.  Uniform Donations:
If you have old uniforms that do not fit your student, we will gladly take them for students who may need a uniform during the 2012-2013 school year.  Drop them off at the guidance office any time during the summer.  Thank you for your help and support.
Parents as Partners Nights:

SOL tests are given in May. This program will specifically emphasize the Reading and Math SOL tests as well as test-taking strategies to use when reviewing with your student to make them successful! Refreshments will be served after the program.

Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 6 p.m.

Come see us and participate in our Spring Family Reading Night.  Refreshments will be served after the program.

June TBD, 2013 at 6 p.m.

What will middle school be like? What programs are offered to middle school students? Have all your questions answered about Middle School Transition. The Middle School Band will perform.  Dinner will be served after the program.


The Parent Portal for PowerSchool is available.  Parents or guardians can pick up their child's login and ID from school at Registration Night in the Fall.  Proper ID required to pick up letter.
**JPK is collecting "Box Tops for Education" & Campbell's "Labels for Education". 
Labels and coupons can be turned in to the JPK Office.
