We are busy finalizing plans for our upcoming trip to Washington DC in June. Mr. Christ and the 8th grade team met with the students today to discuss some upcoming events.
In Science class today and tomorrow, each student attending the DC trip will be given a letter regarding upcoming deadlines for the Medical Forms (due May 16) and the final payment (due May 20). Medical forms can be found on my website if needed.
We also discussed our last fundraiser – a Car Wash scheduled for Sunday, May 15 from 1pm-4pm. This will be the last opportunity for students to earn money toward their trip. Student can pre-sell tickets – which will be credited directly to them – or they can volunteer to work that day. Any money made that day will be divided among the students that worked. By the Monday after the car wash, I will send a note to students whose balance needs to be adjusted.
In addition, we discussed the rooming procedures. Students will be completing a Roommate Request form Thursday and Friday in their Enrichment classes. Student can choose one other student to “partner” with. This must be a mutual choice. They will be guaranteed to be rooming with that person and be assigned to the same chaperone group and bus. Students who are not sure of a partner, can list 4 or 5 students that they would like to be matched up with. The 8th grade team will then create the rooming list and chaperone groups. Rest assured, we are very careful with this process and try to match up students well. Our goal is for everyone to have a wonderful and enjoyable experience.
As we get closer to the trip, we will provide the students will more details, such as a suggested packing list.
Lastly, if there are any dietary requirements other than the known allergies of which we are aware, please let me know. For example, if your child is a vegetarian or vegan, we can arrange for that.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
