Table Tennis

We have restarted table tennis on Wednesday evenings. Tommy Hammett (a qualified instructor) is happy with the interest so far.

Recently on TV Table Tennis was quoted as one of the best activities for ‘staying young’ both physically and mentally.

Paul Karabardak, Paralymian and former FOYD User who opened the FOYD Christmas Fayre 2015

Paul was a keen footballer until he suffered a massive stroke at the age of ten. Subsequently he was introduced to table tennis at a local youth club. ‘As I could no longer play football I felt lost without sport and bored with nothing to do’, Paul recalls. ‘My mum found out about a club for disabled people called Friends of the Young Disabled.’

Within two years Paul was playing table tennis for the local Swansea League, and at the age of sixteen was selected to play for the GB Team in the European Championships, where he won a bronze medal. Since then he has represented Great Britain at the World Championships and at two Paralympic Games: Beijing 2008 and London 2012.
