It's the Wildcat Way!

Principal's Message

On behalf of the Sutter Middle School staff, I welcome your family to the 2018-19 academic year.  My name is Lucio Cortez, the new SMS principal, I am super excited to be joining the Fowler Unified School District.  Over the summer, our Team is diligently planning to ensure that SMS continues to provide a safe and supportive learning environment, where your child can achieve their highest academic potential. Without a doubt, this goal cannot be met without strong support from both our parents and stakeholders. We want all of you to get involved, so over the course of this upcoming school year, we have scheduled a number of different events in which you can participate.

As an instructional leader serving the Fowler community, I am committed to preparing your child to excel at reading, writing, and problem solving. Our SMS Team is devoted to improving the quality of instruction, intervention, co-curricular activities, and counseling services that can help students improve their social and emotional skills.

Most significantly, the Fowler Unified School District and SMS Team are pledging to improve the quality of education and career-based experiences that can help your child reach their fullest potential.  I look forward to meeting and working with you to make this a successful academic school year. Go Wildcats!

Lucio Cortez
