Universities

The following local universities have Orchestra programs and offer music degrees in majors such as Music Performance, Music Education, and Music Composition. Many universities offer scholarships for students who perform in the Orchestra, even if they are majoring in a field unrelated to music. Southside students have a long tradition of earning money for college by performing in their university's orchestra.

Students are encouraged to audition for music scholarship during the first semester of their Senior year in high school. Follow the links below to research the audition requirements for the colleges you would like to attend. Each college has specific requirements for the audition music that should be performed. Most students select their top 3 college choices, and then work with a private teacher to find 2 pieces that satisfy the requirements for all 3 universities. It is recommended that students begin preparing their college audition music during their Junior year of high school.
