Prior to reading our script, The Odyssey, I introduce students to Greek mythology and Homer’s epics in storybook form and in film. The film I have selected is a Hallmark Home Entertainment film, The Odyssey (PG13). I selected this film because it covers many scenes that we will be acting out in class. Students can also get a good sense of the historic period in the costumes, hairstyles, props, architecture, ships, etc. that are in the film.  Watching this film makes Homer’s epic more accessible to our students and engages them in our class performance process. If, however, you do not want your child to watch this film with the class please notify me in writing.
