OUR WEEK

This week we began learning about some strategies for keeping track while counting.  We are learning to move objects from one pile to another, or to put objects in a line as we count to help keep track of the objects.  Please provide your child with opportunities to count different objects around the house.  Watch to see how they keep track of their items and provide support as needed.

This week we also explored our sense of hearing by using our ears to listen to mystery sounds.  The students had a great time trying to figure out what each mystery sound was.

Finally this week we read a book called, “The Perfect Pet” by Margie Palatini.  This book is about a girl who wants a pet very badly but her parents don’t think any pet will be the perfect one, until one day the girl in the story finds the perfect pet all on her own.  Ask your child to tell you what pet the girl in the story decides is her perfect pet.  After we read the story, each student was able to paint a picture of the pet they would like most if they could choose any pet.

HEALTHY SNACK

I still need a few volunteers to bring in an item for our healthy snack celebration on Oct. 31st.  Please let me know if you are available to help by signing up on the white board outside of our classroom door or by sending me a note to let me know you can help.  Thank you!

NO SCHOOL

There is no school tomorrow or Friday.  School will resume, Monday, October 24th.  Enjoy the long weekend!

HEALTHY BODIES

Mrs. Lane, our school nurse, came in and talked with the students about things that they can do to keep their bodies healthy, such as eat healthy foods, get plenty of rest, exercise, keep our bodies clean and to follow safety rules.  Thank you Mrs. Lane for this wonderful presentation!
