Every summer, many children lose 2 to 3 months in reading and math skills.

This is known as the “summer slide” - when kids fall behind in school over the summer break.

These reading and math losses add up. By fifth grade, summer learning loss

can leave students  2 1/2  to  3 years behind their peers.

Missisquoi Valley Union Middle & High School (MVU) held its annual STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Fair on Thursday 1/18/18. This year the fair had over 150 students that chose to participate in grades 7-12. The student projects were scored by judges that came from local and regional  businesses, agencies, universities and medical offices.

The 36 Judges from various companies and organizations who volunteered their time included:

      Superior Technical Ceramics: Richard Feeser, Jared Myreton, Robert J Giroux, Cindy Bernier

      Globalfoundries: Daniel Vanslette,  Jeff Maling, Siva Adusumilli, Ian McCallum-Cook

OUR MVU AFTERHOURS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM


Started in September 2009, the Missisquoi Valley Union High School - MVU AfterHours After School Program provides activities after school for 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th grade students, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for 30 weeks during the school year.  With up to 50 students attending daily, students enjoy activities ranging from homework help, tutoring, science, technology, math, literacy, fitness, health and art programming.  This after school program is free of charge and is open to all students.  

The 2017-2018 schedule is:
           

EARLY FALL -  September 11th – October 12th  (5 weeks)

FALL -  October 16th - November 16th (5 weeks)

LATE FALL -  November 27th - December 20th (3.5 weeks)

WINTER -   January 8th  – February 22nd (7 weeks)

MUD SEASON -  March 12th – April 19th (6 weeks)

SPRING  -  April 30th - May 24th (4 weeks)
