School Counselling Services

The Fort McMurray Catholic School District provides guidance and counselling support services in each of our 11 schools.  

 

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS   Early Entry Program (Pre-Kindergarten -  Grade 6)

There is a half - time counsellor at each of the Elementary schools.  

Support services include:

    • Individual and small group, social and friendship skill development

    • Local Community agencies also support social skill development with classroom teachers

    • Classroom presentations and health curriculum support

    • Provide resources to parents & school staff

 

Students, parents, and teachers may access counselling support when there are concerns in the areas of:

    • social skills / friendship skills

    • anxiety

    • depression

    • family change (separation/divorce)

    • grief and loss

    • emotional regulation (anger management & problem solving)

    • self-regulation (impulse control and managing one’s behaviour)

    • decision-making in adolescence (dealing with peer pressure)


Additional services and programs may include

    • The Care Kit (Grade K and 1)

    • Who Do You Tell Program (Grade 3 and 4)

    • Friends for Life ( Grades 2, 5, 7) 

    • Go Girls Program

   

 

FATHER PATRICK MERCREDI JUNIOR & HIGH SCHOOL (Gr. 7-9, 10 -12)

HOLY TRINITY JUNIOR & HIGH SCHOOL (Gr. 7-9, 10 -12)

A range of services from personal and educational counselling to scholarship and career information is offered.  Students and parents can make appointments with their child's assigned Counsellor in person or with the Receptionist during regular school hours. Please call your local school to make an appointment.
