Parent helpers would be welcomed. Still no parent helpers at this time.

6. Please initial and sign the agenda and return to school the next day.   We use the agenda as a means of communication between home and school.

7. If your child has difficulty tying  shoe laces without assistance
please send velcro or slip on shoes for class and for outdoor shoes as well.
They must wear no markering runners for inside and for gym use.
Flip flops are now allowed at school.

8.  When the weather is nice students are expected to play on the playground untill 8:05 in the morning when the bell rings.
When they come inside they need to put their shoes on the floor below their coat  hanger and hang up their coat.
They will bring their book bag which contains their  kanga pouch with agenda and lunch kit into the classroom.

Before class starts children are required to wait at the playground until the bell rings.
Have them dress according to the weather to prevent them from getting a chill.

Tall letters much reach the top line, half size letters must not go above the dotted line.
Leaving a printing space between letters in printing booklet and words when writing.
Print from left to right, neatly, between the lines.

Please encourage your child to hold their pencil properly.

It is expected that student learn to use upper and lower case letters appropriately with no letter reversals by the end of grade one.

We are working with the HANDWRITING WITHOUT TEARS program.

Snacks, lunches and clothing

posted 28 Feb 2011, 12:48 by Susan Laliberte   [ updated 12 Sep 2016, 18:48 ]

Snacks and Lunch:

1L does not have a microwave.  Please prepare a lunch that is not required to be heated.
We have snack time right after morning recess which is from 10:00 to 10:15 from Monday to Friday.
Please send a snack with your child in addition to the regular lunch.

Please send/drop off lunch at the office before 11:55 a.m.

Don't forget to provide a water bottle for your child to have access to drinking water each day.  They can fill their water container from the water dispenser provided in the hallways.

Dress for the weather:

The children are expected to wait outside in the supervised playground before the bell rings in the morning.

Parents, please encourage your child to play outside with other students.  There is a supervisor on the playground area every morning before school starts.  Students will be allowed to wait inside if it is raining or colder than minus 20.

At this time of year a change of clothing would be useful if your child gets mud or water on thier clothing.

Please put the clothing in a ziploc bag at the bottom of their book bag.

There is more information about school procedures and rules at the front pages of your child's agenda.
