WILDFIRE INFORMATION- OUT OF SCHOOL CARE
Due to the current wildfire situation in the Fort McMurray area, the decision has been made by the Fort McMurray Catholic School Board to not open Good Shepherd and Father Beauregard Schools for the 2016/17 school year. This will result in the Good Shepherd and Father Beauregard Out of School Care programs not being available for the school year. We are continuing to make plans to best serve all of our families as we work our way through this unprecedented situation together. For our families currently enrolled in our OSC programming, please check your email for a survey. We are working to determine the needs for our families and your assistance would be greatly appreciated. For families with specific questions regarding their child care needs, please email Program Manager Janet Huffman at email@example.com.
Out of School Care
Fort McMurray Catholic Schools and Mammoet Canada Western Ltd. have worked in partnership with Ministry of Human Services to provide support for children when parents are at work. The Out of School Care Program is designed to provide a safe and caring environment for children in grades 1-6, who require before and/or after school care. Quality programming, easy access and affordable fees are the primary focus of our programs.
In Alberta, all licensed and approved child care programs must meet a minimum set of provincial standards. The Alberta Child Care Accreditation program establishes standards that exceed those in the provincial standards. These higher standards have been developed by members of the child care sector, together with the Ministry of Human Services. An accreditation agency works with accredited programs to make sure they follow these standards. This voluntary program is the only one of its kind in Canada. We are proud to have 7 fully accredited programs to offer to families in Fort McMurray.
Our programs are staffed by fully qualified, professionally trained personnel. The young men and women who work in our programs model energy, a zest for life and exploration to the children in the programs.
Our programs are committed to providing children with an opportunity to further their personal development within a responsive and deliberately implemented program. Each child care room differs in terms of the environment, routine and activities in response to the diversity of the children in the group. However, all share a common philosophy that facilitates the provision of high quality childcare that focuses on the social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development of the child.
