St. Johns County was created in 1821. It was named for St. John the Baptist. St. Johns County and Escambia County were Florida's original two counties with the Suwannee River being the boundary between the two.
This county is undergoing renovations. We apologize for any inconveniences, but hope that you will use the STATEWIDE RESOURCES for your research. If you have transcribed material of county interest, please consider donating it. Thank you.
