The 2018-2019 school year will mark my third year as part of the FALA family and I am delighted to be returning. FALA is truly an amazing place to work and learn.
I completed my Masters in Mathematics Education at Northern Arizona University in May 2016. I also hold a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from NAU. I believe that students learn mathematics best when they are required to explore patterns, predict, and explain their reasoning to others. I don't believe that memorizing steps to solve a problem and memorizing formulas is learning mathematics. It is my hope that each student will leave my classroom with a DEEP understanding of the concepts we have covered, an ability to think critically about new problems and an appreciation for the ART of mathematics.
My interests outside of math are pretty diverse. I really enjoy being active. This includes going dancing (country two-step is my favorite), snowboarding, swimming, biking, Ultimate Frisbee and slack lining. I also enjoy drawing, puzzles, and reading a good book.
I cannot wait to get to know all of you! We are going to have a great year.
