Biography:
Inspiring young people through art education has been my passion for over sixteen years. My well rounded background working with young people and diverse art experience has equipped our student's high success rate. I spend my free time traveling the world, admiring diverse arts and cultures, and exploring natural and man-made wonders. I take that experience back with me to my classroom. Seeing all types of art and cultures has equipped me to be a multifaceted artist and an inspiring art educator. I challenge students to see and create art beyond the obvious, and encourage them to explore art’s deeper significance and broaden their vision of art.
My love of art started when I was a child. My mother is one of the strongest influences in my life. Her skills as an artist and educator have sculpted my artistic talents throughout the years. She inspires me to see the artistic potential in everything. I have associated with many innovative artists, and I have a large network of art mentors and peers. I believe that an effective art teacher collaborates with other artists to continually expand their students’ minds with inspirational and effective lessons.
My artistic experience includes: recycled art, sculpting, photography, graphic design, painting, drawing, murals, printmaking, woodworking, metals and ceramics; all of which my students benefit from every day. I challenge students to strive for excellence; I know they are capable of greatness, and I encourage them to take AP courses. It has been my pleasure to help build a well rounded Fine Arts Program at Buena Park High School.
I have taught Jr. K-12th grade and three college level fine arts. In 2005, I began teaching elementary and middle school Art, in Huntington Beach for over four years. I was given the opportunity to teach at Buena Park High School in 2009. The 3-D Design course kickstarted my passion to grow the advanced program, we are now an "Exemplary Arts Program."
I am currently teaching Beginning Drawing & Painting, Special Studies: Drawing & Painting, 3-D Design and 2-D Design, Advanced Placement: Drawing & Painting, 3-D and 2-D Design. We also have an annual art gallery show and take part in a variety of art shows throughout the year with, and we have a high award success! Over the years I have been the club adviser of: Art Club, Fashion Club, Yearbook Club, Anime Club and Freshman Class Adviser.
