To avoid a drafting penalty, stay at least three bicycle lengths behind the rider in front of you and complete any pass within fifteen seconds. If you are overtaken, you must drop back three bicycle lengths before attempting to pass. To avoid a blocking penalty, ride to the right of the road except when passing other competitors. To avoid a center line penalty, do not cross the center yellow line of the road.
Helmets with the chin strap fastened are required whenever you are on your bike. Bar end plugs are required on handlebars and aero bars; taping over the bar ends is not permitted.
