About the Charles Island Triathlon
Charles Island Triathlon hosted by the Woodruff Family YMCA will be the first triathlon held at beautiful Walnut Beach.
The setting for this race makes for a great sprint triathlon and a wonderful way to spend a summer day. Walnut Beach with its deep sand is perfect for sunbathers and has a pier for fishing. Shady Devon Rotary Pavilion with picnic benches and canopies provides a comfortable place for a picnic lunch. Love to people watch and stroll? The beach boasts one of Connecticut's longest boardwalks. Visitors can enjoy watching boats zoom across the Long Island Sound or seagulls spreading their wings along the shoreline.
The 39th Annual Milford Oyster Festival adds to your summertime fun. Blues Traveler is the headliner band at the Festival Main Stage that afternoon. Great opportunity to enjoy a free outdoor concert by a Grammy Award winning band.

Race Divisions and Awards
Standard USA Triathlon age group divisions in five year increments are employed for this event, for example: 30 to 34 years, 35 to 39 years, etc. Age group is determined by age as of December 31, 2013. Awards are given to the top three finishers in each age group, and in the Clydesdale and Athena divisions, and to all three members of the top male relay team, top female relay team, and mixed relay team. And a random award or two may be given out at the race director's discretion.
