The Race Courses
Come to race, but stay for the festivities. Your triathlon experience includes a DJ playing great music, yummy post race treats, and sponsor giveaways.
Standard USA Triathlon age group divisions in five year increments are employed for this event, for example: 30 to 34 years, 35 to 39 years, etc. Age group is determined by age as of December 31, 2012. There is a Clydesdale category for men who weigh 200+ pounds and an Athena category for women who weight 150+ pounds. Also there is a relay category for two person teams.
Earn entries to win a Quintana Roo Seduza or a Quintana Roo Dulce triathlon bike when you participate in F.I.R.M. events in 2012. Plus you get additional entries if you place in the top three in your category. Two winners (one male, one female) will be selected from the entries at the end of the race season. The male winner will be awarded the QR Seduza, and the female winner will be awarded the QR Dulce.
Wetsuits keep you warmer and more buoyant during the swim, allowing you to complete the swim faster and with less energy expenditure.

USA Triathlon rules apply. The most commonly violated rules are drafting, blocking, and crossing the center line of the road. To avoid a drafting penalty, stay at least three bicycle lengths behind the rider in front of you and complete any pass within fifteen seconds. If you are overtaken, you must drop back three bicycle lengths before attempting to pass. To avoid a blocking penalty, ride to the right of the road except when passing other competitors. To avoid a center line penalty, do not cross the center yellow line of the road.
Helmets with the chin strap fastened are required whenever you are on your bike. Bar end plugs are required on handlebars and aero bars; taping over the bar ends is not permitted. Head phones and music players are strictly prohibited.
